From NYC and points South
- Take Interstate 95 North through Connecticut
into Rhode Island.
- Once in Rhode Island, take Exit 3 (Route
138 East) and follow signs to Jamestown and Newport Bridge.
- As
you go over the Jamestown Bridge (no toll), you'll see the
Plum Beach (caisson, or "spark plug" type) Lighthouse
on your left.
- Continue on 138 East and take the last
exit on the right to Historic Jamestown - BEFORE the Newport
Bridge.
Signs read “Last exit before toll bridge” and “Welcome to Historic
Jamestown”
DO NOT CROSS OVER THE PELL-NEWPORT BRIDGE (toll).
- The Historic
Jamestown exit becomes Conanicus Ave. (Notice on the left just
before the police station the road to Conanicut Marina's Shipyard
at Taylor Point where you can park overnight. Across the street
on the right you'll see the Jamestown Golf Course.)
- Continue
down the hill until you get to the stop sign at Narragansett
Blvd. (about 1 1/2 miles). The water will be on your left.
- At
the stop sign you'll see the Town Dock / Ferry Wharf and
shops ahead on the left.
- Go straight through the stop sign and
turn left into Ferry Wharf. The Jamestown Ferry Office is
under the sign "The Conanicut",
near the water.
- PARKING: There's all-day street parking
in Jamestown Village between the Fire Station and Town Hall;
two hour parking in the wharf parking lot; overnight parking
at the Conanicut Marina Boatyard site at Taylor Point. (Call
the shuttle for transportation to Ferry Dock 401-423-7157.)
- If
you are staying overnight: ALLOW
AN EXTRA 30 MINUTES FOR THE PARKING PROCESS.
- Drop
off passengers, food and luggage at the ferry landing. Tell
a marina staff person you are spending the night at the lighthouse
and you need to park your car overnight. Follow the shuttle
driver back to Taylor Point (1 mile away) to leave your car. Display
the RILF pink parking pass on your car dashboard. Ride
back to the wharf on the shuttle.
- Boat transportation to
the Rose Island Lighthouse is provided from Ferry Wharf aboard
the Jamestown-Newport Ferry. Check your reservation information
for details and the ferry schedule.

From Providence T. F. Green Airport
- Follow
signs to Interstate 95, then stay to the left to go onto
I-95 South.
- Take (left side) Exit 9 onto Route 4 South toward North
Kingstown, East Greenwich.
- South of Wickford, Route 4 South bends to
the right and merges into Route 1 South after the second
traffic light.
- Take the
next exit to Route 138 East towards Jamestown and the Newport
Bridge.
