Members' New Year's Day Pot Luck Picnic at the Lighthouse
Rose Island Lighthouse Members are invited to bring their family and guests, plus pot luck food and drinks to share. Pots of stew, chili and soup can be heated on a large grill over an open fire. Rose Island Wildlife Refuge CLOSED for Bird Nesting Season
To protect nesting birds, NO ACCESS is allowed to the 16-acre Rose Island Wildlife Refuge – no walking or landing boats on the beaches EXCEPT at the Lighthouse, which stays open year round for school and group tours, overnight "keepers" and special bird-watching tours (conducted by boat). Reservations required.

Shake off the winter doldrums and come join us for a fun evening offering a wide-ranging program that includes delicious hors d’oeuvres, a captivating presentation by photographer Billy Black, a very brief business meeting, an update on the latest Foundation news, and a room filled with engaging people who all love Rose Island!

Lighthouse Public Tours - 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Daily
Keepers will guide your tour of the self-sufficient Lighthouse and grounds, including the 200 year old Ft. Hamilton restoration project. Picnic tables and public toilets available. A 15 minute trip aboard the Jamestown-Newport Ferry will transport you to Rose Island.

Bird Nesting Season Restrictions End - Starting on the 15th during regular visiting hours people may walk around the island ONLY on the BEACHES and MARKED PATHS. Do not land boats on any beaches except at the lighthouse. Please pick up beach debris as you go and bring it back to the lighthouse landing to be counted and properly disposed in September.

After Labor Day please call our office to make a date for a guided tour of the Lighthouse. We will happily arrange a guided tour,round trip boat transportation, and parking. The perfect destination for everyone; couples, individuals, scouts, group tours, school tours, and summer camps.

Landowner's Plaque Dedication
As a permanent legacy all LANDOWNERS’ NAMES are cast in large bronze plaques. Dedication ceremonies are held periodically as the Island For Sale landowner's plaques are filled. Each plaque contains 204 names. We will send notices by email to the purchasers when their plaque is ready to be dedicated.
