Members' New Year's Day Pot Luck
Picnic at the Lighthouse
Rose Island Lighthouse Members are invited to bring their
family and guests, plus pot luck food and drinks to share.
Pots of stew, chili and soup can be heated on a large grill
over an open fire. Help with the New Year beach clean-up.

America's Cup Avenue. See the charming handmade lighthouse
models built by the late Robert I. Dennis.
Eleven lighthouses include, Sakonnet, Castle Hill, Lime Rock (Ida Lewis Rock),
Goat Island, Gull Rock, Rose Island, Beavertail, Dutch Island, Whale Rock, Plum
Beach and Point Judith.

Rose Island Wildlife Refuge CLOSED
for Bird Nesting Season
To protect nesting birds, NO ACCESS is allowed to the 16-acre
Rose Island Wildlife Refuge – no walking or landing boats
on the beaches EXCEPT at the Lighthouse, which stays open
year round for school and group tours, overnight "keepers" and
special bird-watching tours (conducted by boat). Reservations
required.

Ida Lewis in person at the 24th Annual Meeting of the Rose
Island Lighthouse Foundation Well-known local actress and storyteller, Marilyn Murphy
Meardon is a very convincing “Ida Lewis, Lighthouse Keeper”.
At the end of her talk “Ida”, will be available to answer
questions about her life and career in a job usually performed
by men.

Nesting Season Restrictions End - Starting on the 15th during regular visiting hours
people may walk around the island ONLY on the BEACHES and
MARKED PATHS. Do not land boats on any beaches except at
the lighthouse. Pick up beach debris as you go and bring
it back to the lighthouse landing to be counted and properly
disposed in September.

bronze plaques. Dedication ceremonies are held periodically
as the Island For Sale landowner's plaques are filled. Each
plaque contains 204 names. We will send notices by email
to the purchasers when their plaque is ready to be dedicated.
